Hannah RoggendorfHannah Roggendorf is a PhD student at the Philipps-Universität, Marburg, Germany. Her research field is compulsory participation of family members in succession law. In a comparative study she analyses the compulsory portion (Pflichtteil) in German law and family provision in English law. While German law provides a fixed quota which may be adjusted by contractual agreement, family provision is a purely discretionary concept. The focus of the project is on the response of both concepts to the individual situation of the family, and on the way the law incorporates decisions of and agreements between individual family members.

During her time at Cambridge, Hannah familiarised herself with English succession law, and this work became the basis of her comparative analysis of German and English law.
