Professor Josep Ferrer-Riba is Professor of private law at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and specialises in family and succession law. He was a key participant in the preparatory work for the Catalan legislation in these fields and has edited legal commentaries to Books 2 and 4 of the Civil Code. His research in family law covers a wide range of topics, both from Catalan/Spanish and from comparative perspective, including matrimonial property regimes, financial consequences of divorce, child protection, the establishment of legal parenthood, and parental responsibility. He is corresponding member to Cambridge Family Law Center for Catalonia and Spain, and is currently developing a research project on "Analytical tools for the recognition and protection of adult-child relationships in societies with complex family structures".
