Mark Beuker is a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen. His background is in notarial law (LLM 2019), legal research (LLM 2018), and accounting (MSc 2017). As he is most interested in interdisciplinary approaches to family and inheritance, his current research focuses on the law and economics of mandatory family protection. His dissertation, funded by the Dutch NWO Research Talent programme, will provide guidelines for the interpretation of family provisions in Dutch succession law and will recommend law reforms that would, for instance, ensure better legal protection for members of non-traditional families.
