Hrefna Friðriksdóttir​Hrefna Friðriksdóttir is professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Iceland, Iceland.

Cand.jur. (Masters of Law) since 1989, Admission to the bar since 1990, LLM from Harvard Law School, USA, 1996. Previously at the law firm Borgartun 24 until 1995 and thereafter deputy director of the Government Agency for Child Protection in Iceland until 2009. Part time lecturer/adjunct at the University of Iceland from 1992. Full time assistant professor at the Faculty of Law 2009, associate professor from 2010 and professor from 2015. Her main research fields are family law, children´s rights and child protection and succession law. Hrefna is the chairman of the Ármann Snævarr Research Institute on Family Affairs, chairman of the Icelandic Adoption Board and chairman of the Committee of research and evaluation of state/institutional care for children. She is a board member of Nordisk Forening mot barnemishandling og omsorgssvikt, member of the International Society of Family Law (ISFL), member of the European Commission on Sexual Orientation Law and member of the Nordic Network on Barnahus Models. Hrefna has published a comprehensive Commentary on the Icelandic Children´s Act and a book on adoption in Iceland, as well as numerous articles in national and international publications.
