Along with a number of other Succession Law specialists, Brian Sloan recently attended a meeting at the offices of the Law Commission. The topic of discussion was the scope of the Commission's project on the law of wills. The participating academics and members of the Law Commission Property, Family and Trust Law team exchanged views on the most important issues relating to wills in the 21st century, including possible updates to the Wills Act 1837. Brian has published papers on several topics that are potentially within the scope of the project, including mutual wills and undue influence. He recently completed the manuscript for the new third edition of Borkowski's Law of Succession, which will be published by Oxford University Press in 2017.

The Commission expects to publish a consultation paper, which will take account of the participants' views and others, in late spring 2017.
