Joanna Miles participated in Resolution’s National Debate on cohabitation law reform, chaired by Sir Mark Potter, former President of the Family Division, at the Law Society on November 10. Jo was seconder to the motion, proposed by Lord Marks QC (recent promoter of Private Member’s Bills for reform), that "The law should extend legal rights to those who choose not to marry", against Baroness Deech and Harry Benson (research director of the Marriage Foundation). The motion was carried by a clear majority following a lively debate, with contributions from the floor from various other leading commentators from this and other jurisdictions.
