Brian Sloan has been participating in the CRC Implementation Project Colloquium, a series of international meetings held in Stellenbosch (2014) and Edinburgh (2015), and most recently Bergen in April 2017.
The Bergen meeting brought together international children’s rights experts to discuss the implementation of Article 2 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Brian spoke on "Illegitimate Consequences of ‘Illegitimacy’?: Article 2 UNCRC and Non-Marital Children in the British Isles". Article 2 prohibits discrimination against children on grounds of their status, and Brian’s paper considers the implications of Article 2 for the allocation of parental responsibility for children to fathers in England & Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
