Université catholique de Louvain/Belgium​Scherpe was invited to teach at the Global College of Law of the Université catholique de Louvain/Belgium in March 2017 as a visiting professor by the by the Family Law Centre (Cefap) and by the Centre for International and European Law (Cedie).

While in Louvain-la-Neuve, he taught three seminars on various family law topics at the Global College of Law of the Université catholique de Louvain/Belgium: 'Gender and Law' on the course 'Pratiques en droit de la famille', 'The Legal Recognition of Adult Relationships' on the course 'Individu, famille et Etat' and 'Parents and Children – Challenges for the 21st Century' on the course 'Droit approfondi de la famille'. In addition, he gave a seminar on conflict of laws and forum shopping on the course 'Droit Judiciaire européen' entitled 'Matrimonial Property and Marital Agreements: Who is Afraid of the Common Law?'.

On the final day he gave a public seminar on "The Present and Future of European Family Law", based on his recent monograph with the same title. The seminar was attended by colleagues from several Belgian universities, civil servants, notaries and students.
