Professor Kenneth McKenzie Norrie is a professor of Law at the University of Strathclyde, where he has taught and researched family law for over 25 years.

He is author of numerous textbooks on Scottish family law and has published widely in UK and overseas journals on family law, both domestic and international. He has held visiting positions at the Universities of Regensburg, Vienna, Cape Town, Sydney and Wellington. He acted as Parliamentary Adviser to the Scottish Parliament during the passages of the Family Law (Scotland) Act 2006, the Adoption and Children (Scotland) Act 2007 and the Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011. His primary research focus within family law concerns (i) child protection and (ii) same-sex relationships. His most recent publications include an analysis of appellate deference in Scottish child protection law cases, and a comparison between (Scottish and English) adoption orders and (UK) parental orders after surrogacy.
