Rute Pedro​Rute Teixeira Pedro is a professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, as well as Vice-Dean and Member of the Scientific Board of the same Faculty.

She obtained her doctorate degree in Law with a thesis on marital agreements, and her master degree in Tort Law with a thesis on the civil liability arising from medical care, with a particular emphasis on causation.

Rute also is a member of the editorial board of several Portuguese and International Journals and participates in Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Brazilian research groups.

She was awarded several scholarships, including some by the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg) and by the Fundação de Ciência e Tecnologia (Portugal). She has presented papers at more than 30 national and international Conferences and has published widely in Portuguese, English, Italian and Spanish. Her special interests are Family Law, Comparative Law, Tort Law and Medical Law.
