Sarah Hansen is a PhD candidate at Queens University, Belfast, Northern Ireland carrying out doctoral research into post-adoption contact following adoption from public care. The focus of her work is on the early stages of post-adoption contact, in particular, birth parent’s experiences of the formulation and commencement of post-adoption contact plans. This is an inter-disciplinary subject area which cuts across family law and social work
Sarah graduated from Cambridge before working as a research assistant at the Law Commission for England and Wales within the Property, Family and Trusts team. Following that she was in practice at the Bar of Northern Ireland where she was on the Family Bar Association. Whilst in practice she gave tutorials at Queens University in various subjects on the undergraduate law course and in 2016 gave lectures on family law at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies.
