Shéhérazade ElyazidiShéhérazade Elyazidi is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg.

She holds a Master's degree in Political Science and Sociology and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Heidelberg. The focus of her work is on Kurdish-Iraqi family law. Using structuralist and post-structuralist theories as well as social science methods, she analyses the function of Kurdish family law in the reinterpretation of a Kurdish-Iraqi national identity in her doctoral thesis.
