Tobias Thielmann is a PhD candidate at Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf, Germany. His doctoral research on “Forced medication and chemical restraints in child and adolescent psychiatry” was recently granted with a Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation scholarship. The thesis is located at the intersection of medical law, family law and constitutional law and therefore can only be tackled by an intra- and interdisciplinary approach. In his analysis, he focuses on the interplay between constitutional principles, individual rights and medical and socioethical necessities. During his time at Cambridge, Tobias is a guest of CFL and LML and will conduct a legal comparison from an interdisciplinary perspective on the informed consent paradigm for mentally ill children and adolescents.
